We haven’t really shared anything here since our recap of 2013, though it’s safe to say that our successful program is growing in more ways than just ad impressions and payouts. In fact, we have been quietย this year because we’re incredibly focused on something major for very early 2015.
For 2014, our roadmap called for:
- More ad types to choose from.
- Improved reporting.
- As always, higher earnings and improved ad creative.
That’s all still on the roadmap for 2015. Why didn’t it arrive in 2014? Well, we looked at everything we wanted to do, not just those three things, and decided to mix it up a bit by building something even better from the ground up! One might even say it’s WordAds 2.0.
Some of you have already been in our early beta tests, so you have seen some of the amazing things that are soon to arrive. I wish we could say more, but let’s just say we’re incredibly excited to bring these changes to you in early 2015. Follow this blog for further developments!
To learn more about WordAds, please feel free to stop by Why WordAds? and our FAQ page.
If you have a WordPress.com blog with a custom domain, you should definitely request an invitation today! If you have a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, we plan to expand our service to you this coming year, or you could easily move to WordPress.com if you just can’t wait to be a part of the WordAds family.
2014 was an incredibly productive year for WordAds, and that productivity will make 2015 a year to remember!
The WordAds Team
Now I am very curious what you are working on! Can’t wait to find out about it ๐
We’re just as excited as you are! ๐
Woho! Finally someone update this blog. Kekeke.
Really waiting for the self hosted program! Btw, when the time is coming, I hope you will not only run wordas on those 3 providers wordpress.org recommanded. Or please speak to them to add some partners with good reputation among self host users. Aaand since my blog is Indonesian, I think it would be great using provider who has local or at least singapore server based. CMIIW.
Yes, I know. I know. This is a selfish request. I just really love both wordads and wordpress, guys ๐
Well last one, I wanna say thank you very much for your great team works. I enjoy running wordads, even I must use my instinct to predict my earning every month. Hahaha.
Keep up the good work, guys!
You’ll be able to run WordAds under any hosting provider when the plugin launches. ๐
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is the greater, no, the greatest news in the end of this year! Hahaha. Thanks again.
i love wordAds and Canโt wait to use 2015 version ๐
Neither can we! ๐
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. The big change Iโm waiting for is availability of WordAds in all premium themes. So far itโs available in just 12 premium themes ๐ฆ
Have you also been thinking about making it โpay per clickโ? The current system is the best, in my view.
I second this. But not only premium themes… all themes in general. There are so many nice themes to choose from but just a small percentage is WordAds-ready.
About pay-per-click… please not. I love pay-per-impression.
Yes, we definitely won’t be doing pay-per-click, unless there is some undeniably good deal from an advertiser that it simply blows pay-per-impression out of the water, but that would be a rare site indeed as folks simply don’t click on ads these days.
This is really good to know because I agree that pay per impression works better. Had other web projects with pay per click in the past and it was not working very well.
WordAds actually works in all themes at WordPress.com by displaying a single ad below the post content. Theme designers do have the option of expanding their themes to support additional header or sidebar ads (and sometimes both), though not all of them have wanted to.
I love it. Awaiting for new season.. ๐
Hi there! Sounds like great news. ๐ Currently using WordAds myself and happy with it. Do I need to change/do anything when the new stuff arrives or does everything happen automatically? I’m using ordinary WordPress with custom domain. Thanks.
If all goes as planned, you won’t need to do anything extra to be a part of WordAds 2.0. ๐
Sounds exciting! Looking forward to seeing what you’ve cooked up. P.S. I like your team photo. It’s nice to see the brains behind the curtain. Ha!
My site had terrific success with WordAds in 2014. Frankly, it surpassed any expectations I had going in. If 2015 is going to improve on this, color me excited. I can’t wait to see what this entails. And hey, if you’re looking to add another beta tester, let me know! ๐
@James – So does wordads work on all wordpress.com themes? In particular, will it work on Adaption theme?
Yes, all WordPress.com themes. ๐
Aaaargh. Just read this.
I am going to change my theme now!
Good day!
When you reach the changes ??
We are very close. ๐
Any chance we’ll be able to include ads in subscriber emails to capitalize on our subscriber base that may not then go out to our blogs to reread the content?
That is something we are actively considering, though it is not currently at the top of the priorities.
Hi James, we were wondering when you will be rolling out any updates and what these might include…we are mainly interested in more themes having an optimised layout / more placement options as our image-based blog / theme doesn’t allow for ads on the landing page atm which reduces our ad impressions quite a bit.. thanks and best wishes.
More Optimized themes are on the todo list, but the current priority is getting the 2.0 overhaul out the door.
I would like to thank the WordAds team for their great job. My blog’s earnings has seen an increase in 2017, probably due to the higher quality local ads, which helps greatly since my viewer demographic is non-US and non-European.
Sincere thanks!
